A: Research protocols can be submitted at any time. Once received by the IRB, the protocols are placed on the next meeting agenda, usually within two to four weeks.

Q: Where do I submit a research protocol?
A: Research protocols should be submitted to the Department of Research, which after review will then forward to the IRB. For additional information on procedures, please see “The Approval Process.”

Q: Who do I call if I have questions when writing my research protocol?
A: You may call the Research Department at 201-996-2841 for a referral to the newly formed Protocol Review Committee.

Q: Who can I contact with questions regarding submissions to the IRB?
A: Questions can be directed to the Department of Research or IRB Manager Cheryl Dubenezic at 201-996-2255.

Q: Once my study is approved, when do I need to submit additional information to the IRB?
A: You must submit the required forms promptly when you encounter unexpected adverse effects or serious adverse effects. Changes to research process, consent, or the protocol must be submitted and approved before implementation. Any deviations from the protocol must be submitted to the IRB and Department of Research promptly.
